You’re All Surrounded: How a bunch of rookies screw things up but somehow end up solving the case. | Series Review

★★★★★/★★★★★ You’re All Surrounded, written by Lee Jung-sun and  directed by Yoo In-shik.

THIS DESERVES ALL THE STARS, JUST ALL THE STARS!!!!

Ever since I watched “Boys Over Flowers,” I have not been able to find another Korean drama that I could love as much, but now I have. This series follows 4 rookie cops in their late 20′s and their team leader, and his partner.

We have  Eun Dae-gu (Kim Ji-yong), smart and set on revenge.  Eo Soo-sun, the persistent female officer, only one in her class.  Park Tae-il, mysterious and with a hard past as well. Ji Gook, talkative and geeky. And of course Seo Pan-seok, the hot-tempered captain, whose past haunts him. There are other characters, but I do not want to spoil anything at all.

Even though there were some obvious inconsistencies with the characters, their actions, and what was said; it was still such an incredible experience. (again, these you will find on your own, rather than me going all spoilery)

Now, this is no “Law and Order” or “CSI,” but a light-hearted, soul-crushing, spine-ripping, wide-grin making k-drama that will leave you wishing for more.

The cast is the best part, they all have such amazing chemistry that it broke my heart to pieces, needless to say I will now watch every drama the characters are in, or I will try. Their emotions were given perfect time to develop, to simmer, which is something we don’t normally see as there is always a rushed love triangle, and this is not it.

My only issue, was the mystery aspect, which took part of the second half of the series. It was very obvious and relied a lot on the villains, who were not well developed at all, and who served more as annoying second characters.

With that said: WATCH THIS SHOW, I DON’T CARE IF YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT K-DRAMA IS. IT IS ON NETFLIX, SO WATCH IT!

P.S.: The female characters here (not all but most) are complex, something I have not seen much in this genre.
